So today i've been doing a bit of drawing for my fmp for first year, it's based on couples and i'm going to construct a survey that couples can fill in about one another and about the little things they bicker about. Firstly i've just been drawing some couples in my sketchbook i'm trying some different drawing styles because i figure if i try as many as possibly i may eventually find one i'm truly comfortable with, so far i'm pretty happy with my little doodles.

It's funny how much your work can change over the course of a few years, my work style has changed with every project i have done recently ha.
Having just only handed my last project in for marking and unfortunately i haven't taken any photos of it as well as only just starting my final project for 1st year i am unable to post any photos of my own work so i thought i'd post some artists/illustrators work that truly inspire me. Some people are just wonderful!

Keren Taggar whose work can be found on her website http://www.kerentaggar.com/

Her work is absolutely beautiful I love how she combines subtle hints of colour and the use of different papers with her pencil drawings.

Sarah McNeil whose etsy shop you can find here http://www.etsy.com/shop/SarahMcNeil The intricate and delicate drawings she does are beautiful as well as cute I basically just love them!

classical antiquity

I've been working on a project at uni based around classical antiquity which for me has involved drawing and researching a lot of antiques rather than classical art. Everyone seems to be creating beautiful and ornate wallpaper designs, whereas I'm creating bold vinyl decals based around the idea of bringing the antiques into your own home without the cost. It's beginning to make me wonder am I doing it right?

Here's a few images I've traced on illustrator ready to laser cut into the vinyl.

continuing from previous post..

So this project has been divided into three different subject areas: Drawing, Disperse printing & CAD. So far I've done disperse & drawing. We had to do 6 - 8 designs for fashion prints in the drawing section based on floral and abstraction. I'll post some photos of my disperse prints later on but for now here is some of my drawings (well, stitchings).

Beginning of my first proper project...

Recently I finally got to start my first proper individual project at uni. It's florals & abstraction, so far we've had a week of drawing exercises to get us back into the flow of drawing as I totally lost it over the summer. I've been using a lot of machine embroidery as my drawing tool.

A little something I made earlier...

I wish I knew of a place I could get my hands on some really kitsch oil cloth style floral fabric samples because I love producing things like these little houses...
